William Milton Evans

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, February 21, 2017, Mr. William Milton Evans, 93, husband of 66 years to the late Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” M. Evans.

Mr. Evans was a native of Pageland, SC but lived in Augusta for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Evans retired from E.I. DuPont as Superintendent of Structural Division (Ironworkers & Reinforcing), member of Local 709. He loved and served the Lord. Mr. Evans was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church since 1964 where he taught the Bill Evans Sunday School Class for over 50 years. He was a deacon emeritus and loved his church family. Mr. Evans loved to visit the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Family members include son: Randy “Scoot” Evans (Tracy) of Augusta; daughter: Linda E. Mimmie (Larry) of Martinez; granddaughter: Shannon S. Chambers (Robert) of Augusta; brother: Jesse Evans of Pageland, SC; sisters: Marietta Adcock (Harold) of Pageland, SC and Betty Rogers of Fayetteville, NC. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ann Evans.

A funeral service will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Robert Chambers, Lester Florence, Terry Scarborough, Phillip Martin and Dale Hare. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Bill Evans’ Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3045 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta, GA 30906.

The family would like to thank the gracious nursing staff at Professional Case Management for their excellent care of Mr. Evans.
