Mr. William Henry Holmes III

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Monday, February 22, 2010 at his residence, Mr. William Henry Holmes, III, 68, of Augusta.
Mr. Holmes was a native of Augusta. He attended Boys Catholic High & graduated valedictorian from Aquinas High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Journalism. He served in the Air Force, stationed in the Pacific. After returning to Augusta he began a career as News Director for WBBQ, later working in the news department at WGAC & Sunny 105. He ended his career working for Public Affairs at Fort Gordon. He was a member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, where he was a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Irish American Heritage Society. His family said that he was a hard core, conservative Catholic.
Family members include sisters: Margaret H. Kasper (Paul), Jane H. Cason (Chuck); brothers: Larkin M. Holmes, Edward J. Holmes and several loved nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry & Margaret Holmes.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 12:15 p.m. with Father Michael Lubinsky celebrant. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Aquinas High School, 1920 Highland Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
