Augusta, Ga – Entered into rest on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his residence, Mr. William J. “Bill” Williams, husband of 36 years to Brenda Williams of Augusta. Other family members include his daughters: Jennifer W. Neal and husband Freddie and Amanda B. Williams;
grandson: Fred Lindsey Neal III; brothers: Cohen Thomas Williams and wife Emily, Warren Robert Williams and wife Ann; brother and sister in law: Ray and Linda Johnson; a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Williams was predeceased by his parents: W.E. “Bill” and Lorine Black Williams and his Aunt and Uncle: Judge Iree W. and Otto Pope.

Mr. Williams was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and a graduate of the University of Georgia and University of Georgia School of Law. He was past president and member of the Chi Phi Fraternity at Georgia. He began his law career as an attorney with Sanders, Hester, Holley, Askin and Dye Law Firm before joining Johnston, Wilkin and Williams. He taught business law at Augusta College for a number of years. He was a special administrative judge for the department of Human Resources. He served on the Augusta County Commission and was past chairman. He was a charter member of Westlake Country Club. He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid sportsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church “Wesley Hall” with Dr. Dan Brown and Rev. Alan Faulkner officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Wesley Hall (next to church).
Pallbearers will be Lee Parks, Chuck Dickson, Bobby Mapp, Lee Mapp, Wendell Johnston Sr., Wendell Johnston Jr., David Wilkin, Rhett Mohney, Gary Biddle, Richard Wilson and Rodger Giles. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Bar Association and the Honorable Carlisle Overstreet.
