William T. "Bill" Johnston

William T. Johnston, “Bill”, entered into rest on April 24, 2023, at the age of 67.

He was a loving husband of 21 years to Elizabeth Nunn Johnston and a devoted father to Derrek (Jill) of Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Bill was the eldest boy of five siblings born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late William and Theresa Johnston on February 11, 1956. After graduating from North Weymouth High School, Bill served in the Army and Army Reserves before earning his degree from Northeastern University in Boston. Bill worked for Russelectric, a Siemens business as an electrical engineer and manager for 40 years.

Bill had a passion for flying radio controlled planes and helicopters, driving motorcycles, and making new friends in local restaurants. He was a family man, always taking care of the needs of those around him. Bill carried great wisdom and insight and patiently walked alongside others no matter the circumstance; that’s what made him so well loved by co-workers, friends, and family. But of all his achievements, Bill was proudest to be “Papa” to his grandchildren, Devin, Declan, and Madelyn.

Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Neil Johnston of Weymouth, Massachusetts and his brother-in-law, “Moose” McClennon of Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Family members in addition to his wife and son include his siblings: Diane McClennon of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Margaret McLeod of Athol, Massachusetts, Mark Johnston (Kathy) of Whitman, Massachusetts, and his in-laws, Holly Johnston of Weymouth, Massachusetts; nieces and nephews: Jarod Dobson, Corey McClennon, Erin-Marie Shaffer (goddaughter), Billy Kaitz, Philip Kaitz, Marc Malcolm, Heather Pelosi, Daniel Johnston, Matthew Johnston (godson), Krystal Gonos, Jacob Johnston, Jennifer Neary, and Kathleen Turpin; many great nieces and nephews; and in-laws: Roger and Jo Nunn of Augusta, Georgia, Susan Wickes (Chad) of Harlem, Shelley Martin (Ryan) of Evans, Georgia, Steve Nunn (Shannon), of Lorton, Virginia; and nieces and nephews: Claire, Taylor, and Carson Wickes, Miles, Grady, and Callan Martin, Rihanna Al-Faisal, and Chloe Nunn.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Weymouth, Massachusetts. A celebration of life will also be held Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Precinct 10 in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
