Grovetown, GA – Entered into rest Friday, January 27, 2017, William Landrum Powell, III, 86, loving husband of the late Margary Powell.
Mr. Powell was an Augusta native and retired as Petty Officer 1st Class from the United States Navy. He was a former Iron Worker and he assisted his mother, Laura with her custom drapery business.
Family members include his son: Scott Powell and wife Jodie; grandsons: Jacob, Jared and Josh; nieces: June Peters and husband Randy, Deby Spradley and husband Nathan, Syndee Hammonds and husband Wayne; nephew: John Radford; and a host of other loving family members. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his sons, William “Lanny” Powell, IV and Eric Powell.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jud C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer’s Care, 1901 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904, The American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Rd., Smyrna, GA 30080, or to the Augusta Warrior Project, 701 Greene St., Suite 104, Augusta, GA 30901.
