It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of William Barlass Lorick Sr. aka “Chilly Brew” on October 23, 2023.
William was born in 1947 in Augusta, GA. Growing up in Augusta, he attended Richmond Academy High School. He continued his education at Newberry college in South Carolina where he was a charter member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After college, he began his successful 50 year real estate career in Augusta, GA and continued on to Sea Pines, Hilton Head SC, and then the Amelia Island Plantation in Florida.
His life was filled with his love for others. He was instrumental in the growth of the Lutheran Prince of Peace church on Amelia Island and was one of the founding members of the Barnabas Center. He was one of the first volunteers for the South End Auxiliary Fire Fighters. He spent many years as a mentor in the Big Brother Program.
William’s many friendships were lifelong relationships. He loved taking his Boston Whaler out to Bird Island for fishing with his friends and family. He also enjoyed working on his 1929 Ford model A.
As he requested, there will be a graveside service in Augusta, GA with Pastor David Hunter officiating on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at Westover Memorial Park. He will be buried next to his parents. There will be a celebration of life with his friends and family at a later date on Amelia Island.
William will be missed and held in the hearts of his wife, Stephanie; his children Barlass and Abigail; his brother Herbert Lorick and wife Linda Lorick; his sisters Tina Dunn and husband David Dunn, Little Linda; and his nieces and nephew. He will be forever loved by all who knew him and witnessed his life as a loving, honest, and kind man. We are all blessed to have known him during our lives here on earth.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Mayo Clinic Cancer Research, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
